VERMONT OPEN MIC NEWS FROM JULY 26TH 2010

REMEMBER NO OPEN MIC THIS MONDAY AUGUST 2ND 2010!

Below is the note we received from the people at the Vermont.

So please rejoin us on Monday August 9th. We look forward to seeing and hearing all of our wonderful performers and friends.

Ron,

We have to bump Open Mike next week. We are getting more and more little "stars" in here and some can only do Mondays.

So please let your group know that Monday, August 2 is cancelled.

Thanks

Bill

In an attempt to get Sony music to start booking their artists at BARRE vt I am presenting a new artist by the name of Isaac Russell next Monday night. This would bump the open mic guys again. It is the only night he is available to do the gig. Sony has already promised a 20-30 ticket buy. Working on getting another artist to help pack the place.

This kid has been opening for Jacob Dylan and the Dixie Chicks for the last year.

Shane Scheel
Producer

We have been busy traveling around California.

Ron did a great show at the new club 1st and Hope by the music center. For Jai Rodriquez who many of you will remember from the TV show Queer Eye for The Straight Guy. Among his many other stage and film and TV work Jai was also Angle in the Broadway production of “Rent”.

Then it was off to Palm Springs for the show at Les Michaels Cabaret with Kathy Holly and Dorothy Donell

WHAT A MONDAY NIGHT WE HAD !!!!!!!!

THE ROOM WAS PACKED AND MORE TABLES AND CHAIRS HAD TO BE BROUGHT IN TO ACCOMIDATE EVERYONE.

28 performers and not sure how many audience members.

We got the chance to reconnect with a friend we have not seen in years Michael Marion. Michael did booking for The Rose Tattoo for many years and was also involved with many top singing stars. Michael had brought a good friend of his and former client to the Vermont for Her Birthday Dinner. He also wanted to have her performer at open mic since she had not sung in many years. There were 10 in the group. Nannette the birthday girl had 3 of her sisters with her. Surprise they all sing. And sing they did! From Nanette doing a solo to her sisters joining her for some great group numbers as well as being backup singers. Speaking with Michael and the Nanette I found out they used to perform as a group for many years. All I can say is these girls WOWED the whole room. I wish they were still singing together. Everyone could have listened to them all night. I did not get what name they performed under.

Also with us from San Francisco was Kathy Holly along with her friend Dorothy Donell. Ron had the pleasure to be musical director for them both in Palm Springs for Les Michaels Cabaret series.

Besides the sisters Kathy and Dorothy . We had five other newcomers with us.

Please let us know if you have a show coming up so we can post it in the Shows and Performers Notes section

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR PERFORMERS AND GUESTS WHO CAME MONDAY NIGHT.

RON AND BRYAN

WE WERE ABLE TO GO AROUND TWICE ON MONDAY

1.
Christopher Maikish- I should have known it was going to be a great evening when this young man took the stage and sang. “Art” Another wonderful voice and one of our newcomers.

2. Hadley Mears- Who had not had a good week. She was wearing a neck collar . Thanks to a drunk drugged out person who ran into her car and totaled her car with Hadley in it. She said she is doing ok. She brought along her guitar player Jay ,who will be doing her show with her at M bar on September 18th. “Already Gone”.

3. Cory Benjamin- who had not been able to make Monday nights in awhile was with us. “Angel Eyes”.

4. Brett Pellicano- with some of his stand up.

5. Paul Marchegiani- “And Then There Off”.

6. Kathy Holly- “If Swing Goes I Go To”

7. Dorothy Donell- With a song that lal of us who have a man in our lives can relate to. “Can’t Help Loving That Man Of Mine”.

8. Nanette - Our birthday girl with a wonderful rendition of . “At Last”

9. Nanette and her sisters- Getting the rooms attention with . “In The Mood”. I know the room was in the mood to hear more of them.

11. Nevis- One of Nanette’s sisters- “At Last”.

12. Todd Sherry- who vaulted to the stage. “Fifty Percent”.

15. Nancy- Yes yet another of Nanette’s sisters- Traveled that great old road. “Route 66”.

16. Jane Mannon- “Be My Love”.

18. Fabio- Is the guitar player that Wagner found and brought to us.- He did a beautiful instrumental on his guitar.

19. Lois Bowers- “Tenderly”.

20. Andy Prescott- Just back from his home state of Philadelphia. Where he has been working playing the clubs there. Incorporated some of his comedic style in to his song. “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore”.

21. Melissa Thatcher- Who was looking ever so perky. “The Meaning Of The Blues”.

22. David Lucky- Wanted someone to. “Fall In Love With Me”. I know Davids girlfriend and really is “Lucky” to have such a great girl.

23. Dave Bass- Stopped by and did accompaniment to several of our performers numbers. David’s selection for himself was. “ I only Have Eyes For You”.

24. Craig Pomranz- In LA from New York for his LA shows at the Gardenia. By the way only one more chance to see Craig’s show on Saturday the 31st before he is off to Palm Springs to perform at Les Michaels Cabaret series.

25. Kevin Duggan- Who every week surprises us with a song in a different language or from a different country. Went Irish on us this week and forgive me if the title is spelled wrong. “Mackoucua”.

25. Yvettes Ayers- Who just had a Cabaret show at the Gardenia let the whole room know. “That’s The Way”.

25. Heather Olt- “At Last”

26. Geoffery Leigh Tozer- with another one of his great self written songs.

To close us out for the evening I asked Nanette and her sisters come up and do a group number.”

We Should All Go Back to School

The First Grader2010Everyone in the United States can go to school. How we spend our time and how much we learn, differs widely, but the opportunity is a given. When it was announced on the radio in Kenya, that “everyone was entitled to an education”, school age children rushed to register to learn. Among them, and clearly a…See More
