Improvement District (LES BID) partner to bring Gay Pride to the East Side with Pride Goes East, a week-long celebration of special events and local deals during Pride Week in New York City. Pride Goes East will attract patrons to the East Village and Lower East Side with exclusive restaurant deals, nightlife specials, shopping discounts and free entertainment - all geared to bring out the Pride in everyone.
Pride Goes East will offer the community a vibrant alternative to the West Village with more room to celebrate a milestone in LGBTQ history. During Pride Week, Pride Goes East visitors can enjoy special gay-themed performances and events, including a festival on 4th street. With the option of heading south of Houston pre- or post-performances, visitors can take advantage of special Pride deals and discount offerings at their favorite LES businesses, shops and eateries.
Pride Goes East is an initiative under the East Meets East Neighborhood Development Program- an innovative LES BID/FAB partnership. East Meets East will connect residents of the Lower East Side and the East Village. It will also attract locals, the gay community and theater patrons to East 4th Street for FAB-sponsored performances and to LES BID shopping, dining and entertainment south of Houston Street. More than 200,000 audience members attend performances in FAB’s 16 member theaters, drawing visitors from the region and abroad to the East Village for matinees and evening performances. The LES BID represents a legendary neighborhood of longstanding businesses, independent designers, and eclectic boutiques and is a destination for its art galleries, music scene, vintage shops, fabric varieties, and locally made products. Through neighborhood and event partnerships, East Meets East also serves as a commitment to rediscovering and reclaiming the Lower East Side as the ‘Value’ District and as a daytime destination.
