“A Single Man” starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore
at Tequa Festival Marketplace

Colin Firth received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for “A Single Man”, the multiple award-winning film which was based on a novel by the same name.
Set in Los Angeles in 1962, at the height of the Cuban missile crisis, “A Single Man”, is the story of George Falconer, a 52 year old British college professor (Colin Firth) who is struggling to find meaning to his life after the death of his long time partner, Jim (Matthew Goode). George dwells on the past and cannot see his future as we follow him through a single day, where a series of events and encounters, ultimately leads him to decide if there is a meaning to life after Jim. George is consoled by his closest friend Charley (Julianne Moore), a 48 year old beauty who is wrestling with her own questions about the future. A young student of George’s, Kenny (Nicholas Hoult), who is coming to terms with his true nature, stalks George as he feels in him a kindred spirit.
“A Single Man” is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherent part of the human condition, and ultimately the importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life.
A live concert performance by Ralf Illenberger and Rick Cyge will kick off the evening at 7 p.m. Come early, bring lawn chairs and blankets … and enjoy the sounds of these renowned performers! The film will follow the concert at approximately 8 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from the Tequa Marketplace restaurants. In addition, movie snacks and concessions will be available to benefit the Sedona Boy Scout Troop 48.
“A Single Man” will be shown outdoors at Tequa Marketplace in “Cinema Under the Stars” on Friday, Aug. 20. All tickets are free and available at Tequa beginning at 6 p.m. that evening. Tequa is located in the Village of Oak Creek at 7000 Hwy. 179.

"Nine" is a vibrant and provocative musical that follows the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penélope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), a young American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson) and his mother (Sophia Loren).

The original 1982 Broadway production of “Nine,” nominated for twelve Tony Awards and winning five, including Best Musical, was directed by Tommy Tune. The 2003 Broadway revival of “Nine” received eight Tony Award nominations and won two, including Best Revival of a Musical. The innovative, award-winning musical sensation comes full circle back to the screen stirringly re-invented as the richly cinematic story by Oscar-nominated director Rob Marshall, who brought “Chicago” so dazzlingly to life.
