THE BOOFONT SISTERS RETURN TO THE CAVERN CLUB THEATER
WITH 7th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS SHOW, “JESUS CHRIST, IT’S CHRISTMAS AGAIN!”

The Boofont Sisters, Los Angeles’ wackiest “sister duo,” are set to return to the Cavern Club Theater for their seventh annual Christmas show, JESUS CHRIST! It’s Christmas Again, from December 17-19.

A hearty combination of improvisational storytelling, monologue and song, JESUS CHRIS! It’s Christmas Again is, according to Vicky Boofont, the story of “two sisters trying to cope with the trials and tribulations of the holidays through song, dance and drink. Lots of drink.”

Through songs and improvised comedy bits that tell a series of true stories, Vicky and her high-kicking sis Ruby bring audiences along for a different kind of Christmas journey, one filled with sequins, rhinestone and wigs. “We try to bring a Broadway style show to the basement of a Mexican restaurant,” Ruby says. “It’s like Glee, but with drag queens and drinking.”

“And better song choices,” deadpans Vicki, who adds that Christmas holds a special place in the Boofonts’ hearts. “It’s the one time of year where we get to sing ballads and people actually listen! It’s also the one time of the year where I get to share my love of the Baby Jesus with the world.”

Fans of the Boofont Sisters will no doubt rejoice in seeing popular numbers like “KwanzaaBack” (a spoof of Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack”), while newcomers will delight in the festiveness of “The Little Drummer Boi” and their twisted take on Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, not to mention a puppet show celebrating the music of Dolly Parton. It’s vintage Boofont Sisters, but with a twist for this year: “We’ve gotten skinnier since last year,” says Vicki. “We did the Karen Carpenter diet. All the famous queens have lost weight, from Jackie Beat to Chi Chi LaRue. We figured we should jump on their bandwagon.”

“Actually, we just wanted to get through a number without losing our breath for a change,” says Ruby.

Special guests include Long Beach favorite (and frequent Boofont guest) Tammie Brown, as well as Los Angeles personalities Barbie Q and Kelly Mantle, nephew of baseball legend Micky Mantle. “We are also inviting three of our friends that we met on Hollywood Boulevard to sing and drink with us,” Ruby comments. “They’ve taken showers and put on their best dresses for this show.”

Even if you’re not one of the lucky guests who walk away with free booze, you won’t want to miss the show that Ruby describes as “a show Kathy Griffin would love.” “Spending the holidays with the Boofont Sisters is better than spending them with your real family,” adds Vicki. “We’re like the crazy aunts that you love, but more stylish and with talent.”


The Boofont Sisters’ JESUS CHRIST! It’s Christmas Again! plays Dec. 17 - 18 at 8pm and 10pm and 8pm on Dec. 19. at the Cavern Club Theater, 1920 Hyperion Ave. in Silver Lake.
