If you choose a movie by who directed it, like I frequently do, then add “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen” to your list. Some of my favorite films are directed by Swede Lasse Hallstrom including “Chocolat”, “The Cider House Rules”, “My Life as a Dog”, and “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?” (The last starring a young Johnny Depp without scary Tim Burton make-up and Leonardo DiCaprio in his first Oscar nominated role.)

 

Ewan MacGregor plays Fred, a fisheries expert who is recruited by Harriet (Emily Blunt), a government representative assigned to seal a business deal with a sheikh from Yemen who dreams of salmon fishing in his homeland.
